Following last year’s Dante Alighieri: Inferno and Dante Alighieri: Purgatorio, the Divina Commedia series is completed with the release of the astonishing Dante Alighieri: Paradiso
Each sphere is represented by colored stones – zirconia (silver) and precious gems (gold) – set into the length of the barrel, with labels in English and Italian. On the opposing side, scenes from Dante’s pilgrimage towards God depict his encounters with human virtue: fortitude, justice, temperance and prudence on spheres 1-7, followed by faith, hope and charity/love (sphere 8).
Nine orders of angels encircle the cap, comprising the ‘Primum Mobile’ – a ninth cosmological sphere around which all else rotates. They rise towards three shining discs on the cap top, elaborating Dante’s visualization of God as the holy trinity. Glorifications on blind cap, cap rings and clip add period-correct ornamentation.
Custom packaging again resembles an antique leather book to perfectly reinforce the three-volume structure of the Divine Comedy. Realized in sky blue, it completes a trilogy that reflects Dante’s progression through hell, purgatory and heaven.
